Rob Nason
IFR Flight Training School™

Rob Nason - Webmaster IFR Flight Training School™Rob was introduced to flying upon meeting a flight instructor at church. This CFI invited him along on a flight where he was checking out a pilot in a Centurian. Rob took a few lessons from him at that time but it wasn't until 10 years later that it was better financially for him to pursue his Private pilot license. Rob loved the historic Santa Paula Airport and soloed there. Then Rob attended and graduated from Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach Florida where he earned additional ratings. Rob flew Dash-8s for Piedmont Airlines, and was an Instructor Pilot for International Flight Training Academy (IFTA), the training operation for All Nippon Airways (ANA) in California for several years.

Rob is currently the webmaster for IFR Flight Training School™.

Date and place began flying:
Van Nuys Airport, Van Nuys, CA, 1978

CFI since:
1997

Certificates and ratings:
Comm sgl & multi instrument, AGI, CFII, ME, IGI

Types of Aircraft Flown: Many...the standard Pipers & Cessnas, Beech: Baron, Travelair, Dutchess. Bombardier: DHC-8. Citabria, Decathlon, etc.

Most memorable flight
- that you are willing to admit to!:
It is really certain aspects of many flights that are most memorable to me, such as flying with a great crew, or ILSs to minimums in Santa Barbara when the air is as smooth as silk, or flying in the beauty of SE Alaska.

Favorite airport: Santa Paula Airport, Santa Paula, CA where I first soloed. Catalina Island is awesome too.

Favorite airplane: The P51 Mustang...what else..!

Favorite flying flick: I like the Bugs Bunny cartoon where the airplane is crashing, but Bugs puts on the brakes and the airplane stops with the nose inches above the ground. He analyzed the emergency situation, took positive action and applied his knowledge, and saved the day..!

Best advice to an aspiring aviator:
Don't train just to get the license or rating, but train to be a skilled, competent aviator.
